The Salisbury Housing Trust, Inc. grew out of The Salisbury Forum, a series of well attended town meetings, sponsored by the Salisbury Association in the Fall of 2000.
The purpose of the Forum was to identify and address concerns with respect to the preservation of the unique character of the Town and the quality of life for ALL its citizens going forward. Affordable housing emerged as the top priority.
MISSION:
The purpose of this corporation is to pursue and achieve the goal of acquiring, building or renovating, and managing housing and related facilities affordable to low- and moderate-income families in the Town of Salisbury, and to do so with care and concern for the general wellbeing of these families and the community at large.
OBJECTIVES:
We are building single family two and three bedroom homes which will be priced to sell below the current median home sales price. Factors helping to keep the price affordable include the following:
-The Salisbury Housing Trust, Inc. retains ownership of the underlying land through a ground lease arrangement, and the buyer pays only for the dwelling.
-We seek the support of town residents and institutions through generous donations.
