Salisbury Housing Committee, Inc.

The Salisbury Housing Committee (SHC) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization that has been committed to building and managing affordable rental housing in Salisbury since the 1970s when local churches banded together to create Faith House.

We now own and manage Faith House, Sarum Village, and Lakeview Apartments. We have 49 units in total, which:

  • Are a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes.

  • Are 100% affordable, as defined by law.

  • Have a range of monthly rents between approximately $500 and $1,300 based on number of bedrooms and household income.

  • Have tenants who pay no more than 30% of their income on rent + utilities.

With rising housing costs in town and long waiting lists at all our locations, SHC is working to develop additional housing units in other locations. See our Future Projects.

For day-to-day operations, SHC has hired Connecticut Real Estate Management, LLC. As our managing agent, CREM reviews applications from prospective tenants to make sure they meet income requirements, completes background checks, manages rents and oversees the maintenance of the buildings and grounds.

Project financing comes primarily from state and federal sources, supplemented by generous local donations.
